Sinkholes and Sunsets

I made this post a couple of weeks ago.... I saved it but never posted it, so here it is!  Sorry about the delay!

There is another sinkhole in Lake Jackson.... our beautiful lake is never going to come back!  My boys (including Allen) have never been to the boat landing at Faulk Drive on Lake Jackson, so we decided to go last friday night.

Even though it is sad to see the lake gone again, the sinkhole was awesome.  And, because it was still new, there were little waterfalls everywhere.

the actual sinkhole

As we were leaving, a family offered some of their watermelon, which the boys happily accepted.

After leaving the sinkhole, we decided to go to the landing off of North Monroe Street to see what the lake should look like.  It was sunset, and the sunsets at Lake Jackson never dissapoint.

We had a great time and the boys loved stomping in the mud.

Sometimes, we get so busy trying to juggle life we forget about the beauty that surrounds us.  Lake Jackson is half a mile away from my house and this is the first time we ever took the boys to watch the sunset.  It will definitely not be the last, either!

July 4th and the Redneck Round-up!

I have not been very good at taking pictures lately...... sorry.  We went to my family's 4th of July BBQ and I totally forgot my camera.  Boo.  My uncle smoked chicken and ribs and they were drool worthy.  He's a veteran firefighter, so you know the man can cook.  Esspecially meat.  I ate so much, I could only eat 1 rib and then I forgot to take some home with me.

After we let our food digest for a little while and watched the "kids" play (they are all practically grown at this point), we headed to Northwoods Baptist Church for fireworks.  (we stopped by the house so dodo brain could get her camera)  Daniel met a little girl and they hung out for most of the night.  I did take some pictures of them, but I do not know her parents, so I do not want to post them.  I was giddy and terrified all at the same time.  I cannot believe that he is old enough to hang out with someone besides his family at an event like this, much less a little girl.  She was cute... and older (I think he takes after Allen haha).

We brought some sparklers to celebrate with and we watched the show.

It was amazing as usual.  Just enough people to make you feel like you were apart of something big, but not enough to take an hour to get out of the parking lot.  (It only took us 10 minutes).

Then it was time for the adults to have some fun!  Our annual Redneck Round-up aka the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona.  This year the usual gang was there.
